Was it all a dream?

Was it all a dream? Or did all the incredible things really happen in 2012? Let me pinch myself. Ouch! Yes, it must have been real.
Let me sit down and ponder for a moment. Each one of us is a gift from God to the Resurrection Center. Each one of us has provided a blessing in countless ways. It's more than a "Good" thing - it's a God thing.
Some good starts were: Church established as an authorized church in the city of Springfield as a subsidiary of a 501(c)(3) corporation (EP-2061). Bank account open. In May, a building for lease was acquired. It only got better.
Here is a partial list of God given victories in 2012
  • January 1, 2012 - Just a regular start to an unkown victorious year.
  • February 12, Pastors ordained
  • March 2 Web site erected.
  • March 15 2012, church telephone # online
  • March 25 - First radio broadcast
  • April 1 - Blog and twitter feed estabilished
  • April 14 - Participation in feature length Christmas Movie for television, DVD, & online
  • April 22 - Resurrection Center invited to participate in Springfield Community Festival
  • May 6 - First service at 1157 Main Street

  • July 15 - 1st regular monthly potluck
  • August 4 - Pastor Jose conducts 1st wedding (Erica & Elmer)
  • Sept 1 - Riverfront cleanup featured locally on NBC, CBS, ABC, Fox & Republican
  • November 28 - Pastora Lourdes speaks 1st time at Resurrection Center
  • November 2012 - Food drive for Springfield Rescue Mission
  • November 2012 - Apostle & Pastora visit for 2 weeks.
  • November 2012 - Apostle's book published & released
  • December 2012 - Toys For Tots drive - Marines telephone call with appreciation
  • December 16 - Resurrection Center hosts for 1st time the 3rd Springfield Community Festival
  • December 19 - New Discipleship class announced on radio show
  • December 26 - Initiate campaign to reach 7 states of New York and New England
Springfield is just starting to get to know the Resurrection Center. Here is how they have heard about us.
  • WWLP - 22 News
  • CBS 3 Springfield
  • Fox 6 - WGGB
  • ABC 40 - WGGB
  • Masslive.com
  • Republican newspaper
  • Reminder Newspaper
  • WLCQ - 99.7 "The Q"
  • Channel 12, Comcast
  • FOCUS Springfield
  • Blog Talk Radio
  • Post cards distribution
  • Facebook, Twitter, Blogger

This is what I scraped off the top of my shiny head so I know I must have missed mentioning a lot of other God given victorious accomplishments. Remind us so that we can share with others. it's time to wish blessings to all and give praise to the Lord for making all victories possible.
2012 was also a year of understanding. The destinations we ask for is not what is important. It is the journey that God takes us to get to that destination and in His own time.
God bless you all & have a happy new year ~ David Ewen, Resurrection Cetner

You know you want more. Yes you do

My goal with the Springfield Community Festival was to bring new people to the Resurrection Center to see the fun, joy, and excitement we have when praising Jesus. Mission Accomplished. There was laughter, singing, lot's of eating, and people meeting new friends. I truly enjoyed seeing the smiles and hearing the laughter and conversaton. Yes, that's the Resurrection Center that I know. It's par tof what we are all about.
Thanks to all who came to the Springfield Rescue Mission. (video links below) Also, thanks go to the Republican Newspaper who was onsite conducting interviews and taking pictures. This will be the second featured story in the Republican for this event. This 2nd article should be out on Monday morning or the Wednesday Neighborhood secton. Look for it at your newstand.
The evening started out with a moment of silence for the victims in Newtown, CT. After a beautiful recital from children of the church, we showed the feature movie. The evening closed out with a nice dinner at the church.
Here is the movie: http://youtu.be/YwdPycyoIRY
Again, thank you all who came. Please share this email with everyone you know and everyone you don't know.
You know you want more. Yes you do.

Prayers for Connecticut - Sandy Hook Elementary School - Newtown, CT

oday our thoughts are with the families affected by the tragic events Sandy Hook Elementary School located in Newtown in our neighboring state of Connecticut.   NBC News and The Associated Press are reporting 26-27 dead with at least 18 children. (numbers may change).  Connecticut Governor received a call from the President Obama.  LIVE VIDEO at http://www.nbcconnecticut.com/news/local/State-Police-Responding-to-Shooting-at-School-Police--183498401.html

I am reminded of Romans 8:26-28 "In certain ways we are weak, but the Spirit is here to help us. For example, when we don’t know what to pray for, the Spirit prays for us in ways that cannot be put into words. All of our thoughts are known to God. He can understand what is in the mind of the Spirit, as the Spirit prays for God’s people. We know that God is always at work for the good of everyone who loves him. They are the ones God has chosen for his purpose"

Please lift up the families in prayer affected by today's events.  ~ David Ewen, Resurrection Center

    Happy Thanksgiving

From the Resurrection Center to your peaceful home with family and friends ...

All of us wish you to enjoy the warm feeling of family and friends this Thanksgiving.   All of us have a lot to be thankful for.  As said in 1st Corinthians 16:34  "Give thanks to the Lord because he is good.    His faithful love will last forever" and hopefully my translation is correct "Den gracias al Señor, porque El es bueno; Porque para siempre es Su misericordia.

Mission Accomplished - We Are Blessed

May God continue to bless the Resurrection Center.     The power and strength of emotion from the blessings received today is exhausting.   I start by saying "Mission accomplished".

To everyone who contributed to the Food Drive, the Springfield Rescue Mission give true honest thanks to the entire Resurrection Center.  Because of your way of thinking of others, many in need will have the same warm Thanksgiving dinner like you.   The boxes of food were hauled on schedule to the Springfield Rescue Mission on Bliss Street at 3PM and were received with Joy.  It was awesome to see the smiles.  My wife Maria and I toured the dining area and the kitchen area where all the food is prepared.    We got to see the preparation for the big day and talked with many of the volunteers.   We were so excited to be there.     So many volunteers of the Springfield Rescue Mission have put in their own personal time.  They demonstrated the appreciation of the Resurrection Center's contribution that makes their time worth while.    They see the good in Springfield.

But that was later in the day ...  So much happened earlier today.

In advance of the Resurrection Center's effort this January to support the needs of the homeless during the cold season, Maria and I represented the Resurrection Center as we participated in an hour tour of Friends of The Homeless on Worthington Street.   We arrived at noon and were met by Kathy Tobin, formally of WGGB, ABC 40 News,  and now the director of program development at the facility.   She gave us a tour of the 24x7 homeless support and recovery facility that opened 2 years ago.   We were exposed to a team of people who strive to restore dignity to anyone who walks through their doors.     I had the opportunity to speak with a member of the board of directors overseeing the tour.    Maria and I almost cried many times.   Yes, it was truly a very intense emotional experience.    We were among homeless in the dining area and the common area outside.   Many had smiles as hope and dignity were being restored.    We saw the restoration happening in front of us before our very eyes.     Although much success has been received, they ask for our help with donations and volunteerism.  Their hands are open and reaching out to us.   Today,  Maria and I served as sort of a an exploratory team bringing back tissues for the tears in our eyes asking for support this Winter as the Friends of the Homeless on Worthington Street thank us in advance for our help.

But that wasn't the very first start of the day.   This morning, I made breakfast for my wife Maria.  It was suppose to be normal day.    I didn't know what today would be like.  It started almost like a normal day, but it wasn't to be.    I told someone today that my uncle once told me to listen to the whispers from God.    I heard those whispers.    When the Lord says "Thank you", it feels so good, yet I am unable to explain the power of what is felt.    The feeling is in your heart and your mind becomes more aware of what is truly real.  This is the true feeling of a blessing.

As I sit and write this email, tears of joy and amazement stream down my eyes as a I find a tissue.   We are so blessed to do so much good for the need of others.

The day is almost over and I'll be attending church this evening.   Someone will ask me ... "How was your day?".  -- While thinking of the answer, I will look back at the Miracles God has shown me today and feel the warmth of Love.  --   What happened today is far beyond normal understanding - but I will answer the person -- ... "It was a good day".

And so on a day, the week before Thanksgiving  .... with this I say ... Mission Accomplished.
